Which Track is Right for You?
Florida Southern offers five tracks, each equipping you with specific skills to suit your goals.
Family Nurse Practitioner
The Family Nurse Practitioner student is prepared to provide and direct care to families including adults and children in primary care settings. Earn your MSN degree and prepare to sit for the certification exam as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nursing Credentialing Center or the American Association of Nurse Practitioner's Certification Program.
In addition to the 21 hours of MSN core curriculum, the Family Nurse Practitioner track requires 26 hours of track-specific coursework and at least 660 clinical practice hours.
Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
The Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner student is prepared to provide and direct care to patients within the adult age spectrum, including adolescence, in primary care settings. Earn your MSN degree and prepare to sit for the certification exam as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner through the American Nursing Credentialing Center or the American Association of Nurse Practitioner's Certification Program.
In addition to the 21 hours of MSN core curriculum, the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner track requires 20 hours of track-specific coursework and at least 540 clinical practice hours.
Nursing Administrative Leadership
The Nursing Administrative Leadership track is designed to provide current and aspiring nurse managers and clinical nurse leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary to guide daily operations in various healthcare settings.
In addition to the 7 hours of MSN core curriculum, this track requires 24 hours of additional coursework and at least 240 clinical practice hours.
Nurse Educator
Combine your passion for teaching with top-notch clinical experience. The Nurse Educator track prepares you to teach in an academic or healthcare setting by giving you expertise in teaching strategies and learning principles.
In addition to the 14 hours of MSN core curriculum, this track requires 17 hours of additional coursework and at least 240 clinical practice hours.
Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Deliver holistic psychiatric care across the lifespan with the PMHNP program. This track equips nurses with the advanced knowledge and skills required to assess and manage mental health disorders across the lifespan and to navigate ethical, legal, and cultural considerations specific to the psychiatric-mental health population. You will learn to provide evidence-based care, advocate for patients, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. Graduates are prepared to pursue certification as a PMHNP through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board and the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
In addition to the 18 hours of MSN core curriculum, this track requires 26 hours of additional coursework and at least 540 population-focused hours.
